Pint Size Fashion Love

Latest Fashion Obsession:
9 years old dresses like she's 29...
WILLOW SMITH!
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's daughter is all over the fashion scene at only 9 years old!
Her passion for fashion is apparent in her fearless style. It's quite obvious Willow is quickly becoming a staple in the fashion world! I'm blown away at how comfortable and confident she looks in all her outfits and with that wild hair! For a 9 year old to look and feel that good in those clothes it's kind of a big deal. I didn't even know they made kids' clothing that's THAT fashionable! Willow started her music career recently with her new single ironically titled "Whip My Hair" and is now signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation record label.
She reminds me of Rihanna in a mini-me version!

Willow and her mother Jada Pinkett Smith at Emporio Armani Milan Fashion Week on September 25, 2010.

Willow was sitting front row next to Pierre Sarkozy (French President Nicolas Sarkozy's son)
Several magazines and others (probably jealous old people that still haven't done anything in fashion) keep making comments that Willow is too young for the corrupt world of fashion, and shouldn't be exposed to this atmosphere. However, I beg to differ and admire Willow for being so confident and expressive in her style and not caring about what others think or say! After all it's how you are raised and knowing right from wrong--being exposed to the "corrupt world of fashion" does not mean she will fall into the negative side of the fashion bunch if she keeps her moral values!

I give it 2 years MAX and Little Miss Smith will be collaborating on a fashion forward kidswear collection.
Best of Luck Willow-- Don't listen to all these people saying you're too young for fashion-- they're just jealous ;-)

MY BFF MAYRA LEAL!!!

So as I mentioned before in a previous post titled Playing Around
my best friend Mayra Leal is on her way to becoming a superstar! Mayra Leal makes her big break in the new Robert Rodriguez' film Machete starring Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan and Steven Seagal!!! Did I mention the ever so gorgeous Mayra is in her "birthday suit!?" Long gone are the days of running around Biology class at Bellaire High School playing pranks on our teacher, Mayra is now definitely on the fast track to becoming the next A-lister.

Check out a clip from Machete starring Mayra by clicking here.

GaGa for Raw Meat

SHOCKER! MAMA MONSTER shocks the world once again!
Appearing on the September cover of Vogue Hommes Japan in a raw meat bikini, Lady Gaga has once again stirred up some controversy. But that's not all, the cover of Vogue wasn't enough for her last night she attended the MTV VMA's wearing a dress, clutch and hair piece also made out of raw meat! PETA is upset and has commented. Gaga later told Ellen DeGeneres she wore the "dress" as in protest to the military's "don't ask don't tell" policy and then said “if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And I am not a piece of meat.”
WAY TO MAKE A STATEMENT LADY GAGA!
Love your music, your over the top videos and outfits but I'm not digging the meat.

Ombré Hair- love it or leave it!?

Ombré Hair--dip dyed hair whatever you wanna call it I LOVE IT!
Long gone are the days when you have to rush to your hair guru to touch up your "unsightly" roots because they're starting to make an appearance... This season roots are making an appearance in a biiig way! and I'm loving it!
My favorite is fashion blogger Rumi Neely's hair from www.fashiontoast.com.
The ombré look which means faded... is an easy unkept look.
I JUST got my hair done, and it is significantly lighter than usual I can't wait for my roots to start growing out and get this look :-)
Can't wait to hear what my hair guru Albert Dominguez at Solutions for Hair, Houston has to say about this on my next visit to Houston in December!

Nikki Farquharson is a Scottish illustrator and graphic designer whose Mixed Media girls caught my eye! Of course they're all about COLOR! Their quirkiness is what makes them so fun! LOVEEE THEM!

a pop of color!

French born Françoise Nielly's paintings are very expressive. Nielly uses oil based paint and knives to sculpt her masterpieces. Although most of the expressions on the portraits seem negative there's a sense of positivity because of the color palettes she uses.

I'm back...

Sorry I left you people hanging for awhile but I've been bouncing around the globe...

I just got back from an amazing road trip in Europe. We flew into Milan then drove to Firenze then Lyon and finally Paris.
The picture above was at Piazza della Signora in Firenze. It was my first time in Firenze and I loveeeed it! The gelato, the shopping, the weather, the Roberto Cavalli Cafe, the whole experience was great! I love cities where it seems like everyone is on vacation even the locals.

Pages

Anyone who's been to Damascus or lives here knows there's a serious excess of coffee shops...and did I mention they're always the same people at the same tables having the same conversations... or so I thought until I discovered Pages the antithesis of all these coffee shops. It's a cozy coffee shop nestled in a bustling corner of Shaalan close to the Four Seasons Hotel and Boulevard. They have all the lastest and greatest books in English for sale and funky decor on the walls that's also for sale.

P.S. Don't be fooled I still miss Starbucks.

I was just showing the table at Pages some love :-)

Old Damascus

After living in Damascus, Syria for a year my favorite place in Syria is the old town. When native Syrians hear this the first thing they always say is "Of course, you're a foreigner." But anyone who appreciates art and culture would feel the same way.
Damascus is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world but in my opinion all the charm is in the old town. I can spend hours wandering along the meandering alleys which also happen to be two way roads lined with shops on both sides (FYI those alley/roads aren't much wider than the average four door car.)

The most common area in Old Damascus is the Souk Hamidiye which is full of "made in China" type things but most of them are made in Syria, along with typical syrian souvenirs, fabric shops, and tons of lingerie shops that are inundated with all kinds of crazy négligé! Yes, in syria! Panties and bras that fall when you clap, thongs with cell phone holders, bras with bird nests, tassels, feathers, zippers they've got it all! Apparently conservative Syria has the kinkiest lingerie and there's even a book about it--The Secret Life of Syrian Lingerie. I think it's just WEIRD.

My favorite area in old town is Medhat Basha and Bab Sharki. For the fashion and art inclined there is The Khan in Medhat Basha it is a luxury boutique, art gallery, cafe, old damascene house, handicraft shop, cultural destination all rolled up into well--The Khan...such a cool place! http://www.thekhan-sy.com/
For food in old town I like Naranj for a traditional meal or Pizza Reef for on-the-go thin crust Italian pizza. There's also a funky dimmed-light bar named After 7 that reminds me of a bar/coffee shop in Houston called Agora. (maybe that's why i like it ;-)) At After 7 you find a good mix of native syrians and foreign exchange students living in Syria to study Arabic. Apparently on Friday nights people gather at the little park in front of After 7 to play the guitar and sing.
These are just a few of the many places to see and shop at in Old Damascus.
